SIX Telekurs Regulations Roadshow

We proudly present the background report on SIX Telekurs Regulations Roadshow that will start in New York (22 September) and end in Vaduz (4 December).

Whatever your view on regulation, on UCITS, on MiFiD, or on compliance in general, one thing is certain - it is a complex and fascinating area, in which there is currently a great deal of activity. In light of these developments, SIX Telekurs is hosting a Regulations Road Show in the Autumn of 2009. We have worked with auditors, research analysts and practitioners to present the background of new regulations as well as the impact that they will have on your business.

The Storyline

Existing regulations continue to have an impact either on our industry as a whole or on particular parts of it. SIX Telekurs is aware of the important role regulations have and will continue to play in our industry, and for this reason we decided to host our first Regulations Roadshow, in which we will focus on the most important and topical compliance issues. We also realized that there was a need amongst our customers for the clarification on some of the major topics. Due to the continual improvement to regulations, especially now in our current economic climate in which a lot more focus has been placed on compliance, this need has become even more acute. Moreover, regulatory changes have been one of the biggest drivers of change in our customers' business over recent years. One of our main responsibilities as a data supplier is to make sure we understand the impact of regulation and are able to design solutions that make our customers' lives easier in meeting the demands of compliance. We also must help our customers to understand these important issues properly and to support them in their compliance processes and help them "get on top" of these regulations. We take these responsibilities very seriously, and our Roadshow aims to support our customers in this way.

The Performances

SIX Telekurs is working together with two partners, one is the auditing company Ernst & Young, and the other is the research and advisory firm, Tower Group. In addition to the contribution from our SIX Telekurs Roadshow team, our partners will provide their insights, support and speakers at the events, and will offer their views on the background, changes and impact of relevant regulations. All in all we are hosting eighteen events, each in a different city, in twelve different countries throughout Europe and the US.

For SIX Telekurs two Roadshows in particular, are of particular significance, both of which will coincidentally be hosted in the US. The first is the Roadshow in San Francisco, where SIX Telekurs has just opened an office. For some time we were serving some of the biggest firms and institutions in that region, and therefore we chose to address their financial information needs more attentively by creating a new local point of contact, which opened in July of this year. We hope that the Roadshow will further cement our relationship with our clients in that part of the world. The second event which is of particular significance is the one being held in Toronto on the 24th of September. Not only will it be the second Roadshow in the entire series (the Roadshow will open in New York on the 22nd of September), but it will be held in the city in which our next office is due to be opened. Earlier this year, it was decided that SIX Telekurs would set up an office in Toronto, and this event will herald our new presence in Canada. It will also and give us and our clients the opportunity to meet each other, and to discover the issues that they have faced in answering regulatory demands. As we put our customers first in everything we do, hearing real feedback has a huge impact on our strategic direction and tactical solution building.

The Protagonists

Each event will feature two speakers - one from SIX Telekurs, another from one of our partner firms. Our speakers will be Richard Newbury from our London office, David Lecompte from our Paris office, Marc Pätzold from our Zurich office, and Dagmar Graw from our Frankfurt office. Each of these experts will deliver a presentation on regulatory topics relevant to the particular country in which they are speaking, will offer their insights and answers to any questions from the audience. We shall also invite a guest speaker, in most cases a local practitioner, to offer another angle on the subject in hand. The morning (only very few events are scheduled for the afternoon) will end with a panel discussion and questions being opened up to the floor for wider discussion. Each event will last for roughly two hours.

The Programme

No play is complete without a programme, and our Roadshow would not be complete without a brochure. With this brochure we want to give our clients an overview of the current status of the main regulations in our industry, and show our customers and invited guests that SIX Telekurs is really looking after their needs. This brochure is a signal to our customers that we remain committed to keeping their interests in the vanguard of our activities. Richard Newbury, one of the key contributors to the Regulation Roadshow Brochure commented: "It has been particularly interesting revisiting regulations which have now bedded in. When regulations are formulated, there is always a degree of uncertainty around their impact and efficiency. For example in the case of MiFID, which was quite radical in its aims and used a new process in EU regulation construction (the Lamafalussy process). It felt as though there were a lot of unanswered questions at the time of implementation and it has been really interesting to note, for example, just how much business the new MTF's have taken away from established exchanges and how this has both confirmed and confounded certain commentators views on the regulation."

Just as regulation acts as a magnet to the worldwide players within our industry, encouraging them to comply with certain rules, the SIX Telekurs Regulations Roadshow is also a kind of magnet in itself. Not only do we hope to attract a large number of our customers to attend our events, but the Roadshow has a binding effect on all of our international offices. Most of our subsidiaries are hosting an event, and we are all working closely together to prepare for it. For more detailed information, please go to www.six-telekurs-roadshow.com.
